Turning plastic waste into sustainable learning spaces — Diepsloot's first eco-brick school, built from the ground up by the community.
Khensani's Collection's first eco-brick classroom was completed in Diepsloot in 2020. The project demonstrated how community-collected plastic waste could contribute to a safer and more comfortable learning environment. Earthly Touch Foundation constructed the infrastructure for Khensani's Collection.
By 2023–2025, the facility had grown into a full sustainable school — three classrooms, a computer room, kitchen and toilets. The project is a partnership model: Khensani's Collection leads plastic-litter collection, eco-brick making and community mobilisation; Earthly Touch Foundation handles construction and donates the completed infrastructure.
